Outline ProgrammeISO/IEC 15288 Internationally endorsed. The editor of ISO/EIC 15288 looks at the technical, commercial and political drivers that formed this standard. It will be shown to have the potential to influence not just an organisations practices, but also its policies and, its organisational responsibility structure. We also look at its application and the variety of ways in which it can be applied to complexities that society needs to control.Hard & Soft Systems . The role of Hard Systems and Soft Systems approaches in dealing with modern systems challenges. The fundamentals of each approach and problems to which they have been applied are reviewed. Modern systems development and through-life use is discussed and related to the application of the different approaches. System Dynamics. A discussion on the benefits of System Dynamics to mainstream Systems Engineering. Its role in requirements engineering, simulation modelling, project balancing, workload planning and performance, payments and penalties will be covered. Skills Transfer. Systems Engineering skills are applicable to many different application domains but there are many barriers to successful implantation into a particular environment. We take case studies from the Defence and Railway infrastructure domains to highlight these issues. CMMI. International experience with CMMI is growing and this paper takes stock of the progress made, the advantages gained and some traps to avoid when using this powerful business improvement technique. Systems Evaluation. This session will open discussion on the subject of Systems Analysis and Measurement. It is about physical systems and platforms involving the integration of multiple components ( systems) and performance attributes. SMART Acquisition . feed back on the efforts of an INCOSE-led Working Group on recommendations for improvement to the MoDs Smart Acquisition process based on an SE approach. CORE Competencies . What are they and how important are they to you? This session compares the INCOSE US and UK experiences and explores the functional partitioning of roles within an organization.
