MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
between
The Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE)
and
The International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE)
For some considerable time, and particularly during the last two years, the members, Councils and staffs of the IEE and the INCOSE have found themselves collaborating naturally and effectively on a number of matters of joint interest. The IEE Council in the UK and the INCOSE Main Board in the US hereby agree to encourage further collaboration on matters which members of our two bodies judge to be of mutual benefit. The principle means of delivery are the IEE Professional Network for Systems Engineering (PeNSE) and the INCOSE UK Chapter.
Examples of areas in which further collaboration is to be encouraged include:
- Promotion of Systems Engineering as a technical discipline benefiting international and national enterprise management and engineering.
- Professional Development of Systems Engineers in terms of learning opportunities and career targets leading to internationally recognised status.
- Joint sponsorship of events in terms of content, timing, promotion and advertising to maximise benefit for Systems Engineering community at large.
- Information Technology and Electronic Communications co-ordinatation in terms of events, resources and cross-references between web-sites etc.
- Liaison between IEE and INCOSE by persistent liaison roles on the PeNSE executive team and INCOSE UK board.
- Co-operation at staff level between the IEE and the INCOSE to ensure that the best possible support is given to members through services delivered cost-effectively.
- Substantiation of this MoU through the development of a real product or service. A set of explicit proposals will be proposed and solicited from the PeNSE and INCOSE UK communities and the executive teams will decide which to progress.
- Rules of Conduct of the IEE and INCOSE being mutually respected.
This Understanding is currently a mutual statement which will be developed through practice into a long term enduring agreement on collaborating on the development of Systems Engineering discipline and its professional support. It is entered into with the intention of improving the service to members and increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of the IEE and the INCOSE in pursuing their Charter objectives and Mission goals.
