BEAGLE 2...A Trip to Mars....

BEAGLE 2 - the technical challenge of sending Europe's first space probe to the Red planet, due to land on Christmas Day 2003 the probe presented a difficult systems engineering challenge to the team.  The "Beagle 2" lander represents the most ambitious science payload to total mass ratio ever attempted. Parachutes opening at speeds of 1,600 km/h and temperatures of -125 deg Centigrade are only some of the technical issues of this multinational project.  BEAGLE 2 represents systems engineering at its best....but this was not without its challenges.

The date:     Wednesday 10th September .
