Technical Notes

The site has been produced using MS FrontPage 98. In accordance with the intended usage, it makes minimal use of FrontPage server extensions. The server extensions used (such as the hit counter and forms handler) should not impact the general useability of the site when hosted on a file system or on a server without the FrontPage extensions.

Files have an 8.3 filename format to be compatible with a Windows 3.1 file system.

The pages have generally been produced to be compatible with a 640x480 pixel display but 800x600 is recommended.

Intranet Installation Notes

  1. The site is available as a zipped file (over 2 MB) downloadable from the UK INCOSE Chapter: http://www.incose.org.uk .
  2. This file should be unzipped with the "Use Folder Names" box checked (assuming use of Winzip 6.3).
  3. The file "index1.htm" should be used as the intranet INCOSE 99 start page. Ideally, this file should be renamed "index.htm" file overwriting the original "index.htm" file.
  4. Ideally this web should be published to a web server which has FrontPage 98 server extensions.
  5. If the server extensions are not available, then the following will not work:
    • The Hit Counter on the original "index.htm" - but this should have been replaced by the "index1.htm" page.
    • The feedback form - instead please use the email address on this form.
  6. If a web server is not available then the site can still be used on a normal file server.
  7. Please advise me when you have installed the web site so that I can ensure you are kept up-to-date with new versions. bullok.gif (284 bytes)
